>The Art of Being Fierce

>Have you encountered people who are fiery? Those that are always in their own zone, yet seem to have a distinct impact on those around them. They seem to always function very differently from their peers, and have a coat of self-assurance that they wear to all occassions.

The fire in such people are constantly being threatened. Nobody likes to be around people who are excellent – b/c they are far too demanding. If people were more honest, they would admit that they are more comfortable around those who do not work that hard. People with that fierce look in their eyes are threatening. They make us look at ourselves with moments of pure integrity. They push us to be a better version of our current state. We can only wish that we love anything as much as they love what they love. We live in a world that cannot handle such desire. Americans are not raised to want one thing desperately. We are bred to want multiple things moderately. If I could preach a sermon on my deathbed, it would be entitled: “Stop Diversifying Your Portfolios.” I would rant about how we need to be fully engaged in our calling, and not half-heartedly into what we think would be accepted. People are deathly afraid of putting all their eggs in one basket. No one stops to realize that their eggs can crack even if they are in multiple baskets.

There is no Plan B in God’s economy. All of us are destined for something beyond ourself. I would suggest that people do not fully walk in their best because they are too self-consumed. When you can only think about yourself, you are unable to live in freedom. You are unable to realize that your purpose in this life is connected to something that does not only involve you – but how can you discover this if you continually look in the mirror?

To those who have not discovered the art of being fierce: Get around the fire.
To those who have that fire: Guard your fire, and if anyone tries to water it down, set it ablaze. In the end, the fire is all you have.

Peace and much love to you – John Baptist!

    >g-vo, mother theresa said the same thing as what you said: "There is no Plan B in God's economy. All of us are destined for something beyond ourself." – gvo

thank you for posting this! I read it a while back but re-read it today and it made much more sense.

My favorite part: "The fire in such people are constantly being threatened. Nobody likes to be around people who are excellent – b/c they are far too demanding."

it's so true and its why we are never "there" yet…bc there's always a higher level of excellence yet to be achieved or experienced. I think this is what makes it "uncomfortable" to be around excellent yet humble people – they realize their potential, but know they have not attained it yet, so they keep pushing harder..

thank you for reminding us that being pushed harder os the best thing that could happen to anyone!
